Building the House of Prayer is my highest ministry mandate. I am a full-time intercessory missionary at City House of Prayer The work I do includes administrative tasks, planning, setting goals, implementing vision...along with leading our harp and bowl sets, and training musicians, singers and intercessors. I spend time writing and creating music, and hope to do more of this in the future. I am in the process of connecting with groups of intercessors throughout the city of Indianapolis and participating in other gatherings as they come along.
Frequently Asked Questions
1. What is an intercessory missionary?
An intercessory missionary is someone who answers the call to dwell in the House of the Lord in fasting and prayer. Those who set Biblical precedents for intercessory missionaries are David, who desired only one thing (Ps. 27:4); Anna, a widow who remained in the temple for fasting and prayer (Luke 2:32); and Mary of Bethany, who chose the one good thing of pouring herself at the feet of Jesus (Luke 10:42).
God is calling people to give themselves to intercession as their occupation. All over the earth, He is raising up prayer furnaces, or houses of prayer that are establishing night and day prayer. Intercessory missionaries are the key people in this global prayer movement. The goal is to literally pour out our life sitting at the feet of Jesus, becoming intimate with Him, entering into fasting and prayer for the will of God to come forth. We intercede for the ushering in of the great harvest of souls, for the glory of God to descend upon their cities, states and nations. We pray for governments, the nations of the earth, kings, presidents and rulers. We pray for Israel and God’s divine purpose and safety over His chosen people. This is just a glimpse of the corporate prayer that comes before the Throne of Heaven at the House of Prayer. Intercessory missionaries also enter into private devotional time with the Lord while dwelling in the House. During this time, we study and meditate upon the Word, pray personal devotional prayers for Divine revelation upon our hearts, as well as pray for healing, salvation, breakthrough etc for family, friends, partners and so forth.
2. What is the importance of the House of Prayer?
Houses of Prayer are being raised up in the Spirit of the Tabernacle of David. David hired musicians and singers to worship before the Ark of the Covenant in the Tabernacle. For the first time in history, the veil was removed and the Ark was in full view. Night and day, these musicians and singers worshipped the Lord. They became skillful and the spirit of prophecy rested upon them. Subsequent godly kings of Israel reinstituted the Tabernacle of David and mandated that night and day worship take place in the temple. During these times revival would go forth throughout Israel and the glory of God would rest in the temple.
Similarly, the goal of City House of Prayer is to institute night and day prayer in the City of Indianapolis. We are asking God to breathe dynamically upon the House of Prayer and raise up intercessory missionaries to staff 24-7 prayer, and godly people such as David to partner with and release funds to the intercessors. In Amos 9:11, Amos prophecies of a time of restoration of the Tabernacle of David. James quotes this verse in Acts (find reference) . We believe that God is highly honored by the dynamic of worship, intercession and music going forth night and day. As the four creatures and 24 elders gather around the Throne of God in Rev 4-5, we see that they never cease to worship God in spirit and in truth. In Rev. 5:8, they each have harps, which symbolize music, and bowls that are filled with the prayers of the saints. As we join with the worship around the Throne, our hearts are awakened to the great love of Jesus Christ, and we are enabled by the grace of the Holy Spirit to give ourselves wholeheartedly to Him.
